Jake King is a student at the University of North Texas. He is currently a senior studying photojournalism with a minor in Israel & Jewish Studies.

Jake King is currently working as a staff photographer at the Denton Record-Chronicle in Denton, Texas where he goes to school. He has been working there since May 2017.

Prior to Jake's experience at the DRC, he worked at the North Texas Daily as a senior staff photographer from September 2016 to June 2017. In 2018, Jake worked as the Daily’s Visuals Editor.

Jake recently earned 5 awards at the 2019 Texas APME contest including: 1st Place News Photo; 1st Place Video Longer than 2 Minutes; 3rd Place Star Photojournalist; 3rd Place Sports Photo; and an Honorable Mention for Feature Photo. The same project which earned 1st Place in the long video category, “In Search of a Smile,” was also awarded 14th Place in the national Hearst Multimedia One: Narrative Storytelling Features competition.

Jake earned two awards at the 2017 Texas Intercollegiate Press Association on-site competitions: 1st Place Feature Photo and 3rd Place in a 2-Person Photo Essay. in 2018, he earned 1st Place in the on-site News Photo contest.

His work has been published in the New York Times, The Associated Press, The Dallas Morning News, the Houston Chronicle and The Denton Record-Chronicle.
